Foundations of Next Gen Ministry

Two Weekend Trainings

For Children’s and Youth Ministry Leaders

Four Coaching Sessions

One Year - With Zero Course Fees!

Because we believe young people are tino taonga, treasures - precious gifts full of potential, promise, and purpose, we want to make sure those who serve them are well equipped with strong foundations.

Foundations of Next Gen Ministry is an entry level certificate recognised within The Salvation Army and equips Children’s and Youth Leaders with a foundational understanding of key components of tamariki and rangatahi leadership.

For the first time, in 2026, we are combining Children’s and Youth to present you Foundations of Next Gen Ministry!

Students are required to attend two weekends of training at Booth College of Mission (BCM) in Upper Hutt and coaching sessions throughout the year.

The course is beneficial for anyone involved in Next Gen ministry - Children and Youth leaders, including employees, officers, volunteers, key leaders, helpers and up-and-coming leaders. You must be 16 years old, and it is recommended for those who have been involved in youth ministry for 0-2 years, and anyone with no prior ministry training and for those new to leadership within The Salvation Army.
